Diptych

Diptych’s are art works that have two pieces of art but the two pieces of art put together actually complement each other and make a whole new piece of art.

The artist I have chosen to pair my piece up with is Morgan Charles, his project was seeing strangely through glass. He had created a human face by painting over glass with crayons and other materials. He held the glass and took a picture of it. The image of the green face is paired up with my photograph of the staring door as it goes together and it creates a whole new piece of art. Through Photoshop I had halved the face of the green door and halved the other green face. Then I  put them together side by side to make a new face.

The two pictures together really complement each other as they’re both green and the colour green can symbolize vitality. Vitality is a positive thing as it is the state of being strong and being able to grow and develop and it can also refer to having energy and being active. This brings the staring face alive to me.

 This diptych shows you what the people who live in the house are like. This is because the people who live in the house are creative. This because of what they have done to their door it is very creative as they are personifying an everyday object. Morgan had also personified an everyday object as he drew a face on to a glass. And the facial expression of the art work reflects the excitement that the house owners feel when a member of the public stop to look at their door.
