Introduction

Caught staring at me

This photograph was taken last week when I went to Notting hill. Notting hill is well known for hosting the second biggest carnival in the world which is celebrated annually and it takes place every August. It is a festival and celebration tied to freedom and the emancipation of slavery. At Portobello Market I had caught this green door staring at me looking almost as surprised as me. The owner of the house had stuck a mouth a pair of eyes on the door. I took a close-up shot of the door so that the door's facial expression was captured more. The door was green and that colour can connote positivity which actually reflects how positive and cheerful the area is.

Notting hill is known for being a cosmopolitan and multicultural neighbourhood and it’s also well known for the beautiful colourful houses there which many people take pictures of. The different coloured houses can represent the diversity of people who live in the area who are of different ethnicities and racial backgrounds. I really like how all the houses look good together and complement each other and it’s a reflection of how the people of Notting hill just gel together as one big happy community regardless of their background.

The area is also famously known as it is used in many films such as the Cruella film that was released in 2021, two of the Paddington bear films and lots more! The door that was staring at me is also a representation of the area and how quirky it is.
