My journey to Kingston university
A poetic documentary is about using a variety of different film techniques to bring out a certain mood that the producer would like to bring across to their audience. I have brought this concept across in my 0.39 seconds poetic documentary about my journey to Kingston University
000In the beginning of the documentary I have put the title, ' My journey to Kingston University'. This is because it informs the viewers to know what the video is going to be about. The title shows from 0.00 seconds to 0.04 seconds so that the audience has a chance to read the title. The song I have chosen for this poetic documentary is called (Morning Yawn, 2021). This song is very slow and it impersonates an actual yawn, through Adobe Premiere Pro I edited the video to move and go at a slower paste.
At 0.04 seconds you can see my bathroom and in the following scene at 0.06 seconds you can see see a film dissolve. I did this to go with the music as it is slow and the bathroom window begins to immerge into my steamy hot chocolate. After that, at 0.08 seconds it shows an egg being fried in a frying pan. The screen then splits into 4 which shows the repetitiveness of my mourning routing which is apart of my journey. After that I do another film dissolve so the eggs slowly dissolve into the toasts coming out of the toaster. I keep repeating the film dissolves to bring across the the feeling of tiredness when you first wake up. At 0.21 seconds I used a whipped effect to transition from me being at home to being on the bus. This gives of a blurry effect which shows how fast everything happens in the morning journey to University. Then at 0.26 seconds I do another shot of the bus to emphasize how long I'm on the bus for.
From 0.26 seconds to 0.34 it has the actual sound of the bus as gives the viewers more of a first person perspective of what is going on in my life. Finally, at 0.34 seconds I do another film dissolve which shows a shadow of me and my friends walking into the university on the pavement.
